Contraindications
A contraindication means that it is not safe to receive massage or treatment should not be given. Medical attention and /or healing is the priority.
If you have any of these conditions, Massage will not be given at all.
1. Fever (anything above 100.4 is considered a fever).
2. Intoxication (drugs and alcohol). Massage will not be given if you are intoxicated.
3. Acute stage of heart attack, stroke, or Hemorrage. Please dial 911 or/and your doctor.
4. Organ Failure (including Liver and Advanced Kidney Failure)
5. Meningitis
6. Acute Bronchitis or Pneumonia
7. Respiratory Failure
8. Lung abscess or Lung tumor
9. Diabetes Mellitus 1 or 2 with advanced kidney or heart disease, or advance vascular complications
10. Cardiac edema (including Severe CHF, shortness of breath with short walks, not medicated, severe hypertension or crisis)
11. Endocarditis/pericarditis
12. Severe Atherosclerosis- This is the loss of elasticity and thickening of the arterial walls.
13. Appendicitis- This needs medical attention.
14. Acute DVT/unresolved blood clots
15. Severe Hemophilia
16. Chronic active hepatitis
17. Aneurysm (brain or aortic).
18. Sepsis (blood infection) or Bacteremia (blood stream infections)
19. Any contagious, airborne, infectious disease such as covid, flu, colds, strep throat, shingles. Please stay home and get better.
20. Acute skin infections (including cellulitis) Please wait until infection clears up.
21. Highly Metastatic Cancers such as malignant melanoma, lymphoma
22. Pregnant women who are suffering from PreEclampsia/Eclampsia (usually associated when women have high blood pressure, significant asymmetrical swelling in the legs below the knees. If this is the case, you need to call your doctor immediately.)
23. Pitting edema- This is when an indentation is left in the skin where pressure was applied to a swollen area.
24. Right after major surgery. It is recommended to wait at least 3-6 weeks for your body to heal.
25. Uncontrolled Hight blood Pressure.
26. Recent Hospital stay/ER visit will need medical clearance for massage therapy.
